Why get this book

More than a songbook, this 1780 collection was designed by John and Charles Wesley as a complete guide to practical, heartfelt faith. It's the spiritual heartbeat of the Methodist revival, and Charles wrote most of the hymns. You can sing it, pray it or read it as devotion. It's a treasure for Methodists, hymn lovers and anyone who wants deep words for worship. Honest note: it's a historical text without modern music, so it's better for reading and study than for picking songs for Sunday. Next step: read Colossians 3:16 and sing one old hymn as a family this week.
